Problem

In the current digital era, job seekers are overwhelmed with online resources, yet many still struggle to secure employment that aligns with their aspirations and skill set. The job market's complexity and the inefficiencies in traditional job-hunting methods pose significant challenges.

  • Inadequate Job Matching: Many job seekers need help finding positions corresponding to their skills and interests. Traditional job boards often list irrelevant or outdated postings, making the search process cumbersome.

  • Lack of Customization in Job Alerts: Generic job alerts often do not match job seekers' specific needs and preferences, leading to irrelevant job suggestions.

  • Inefficient Application Processes: Many job portals require filling out lengthy forms and repetitive information, which is time-consuming and often challenging to track.

I utilized surveys and one-on-one interviews to grasp the pain points and preferences of blue-collar job seekers and employers in India.

Pain points from Interviews

Have you ever been ghosted by a company after applying for a job through an app? How did that make you feel?
"Yes, it has happened several times. It's incredibly disheartening. You invest time and effort in your application and then hear nothing back. It makes me feel undervalued and makes the whole job searching process feel futile."

Do you find the salary information provided on job finding apps to be accurate and transparent?

"Not really. Most of the time, the salary details are either not mentioned or are very vague. It's frustrating because salary is a significant factor in deciding whether to apply for a job. I wish there was more transparency."

In your experience, do job finding apps cater adequately to your specific industry or field?

"As someone in the creative industry, I often find it hard to find relevant opportunities on general job apps. They seem to be more focused on traditional, corporate roles rather than creative or freelance gigs."

Challenge Prompt

"How might we design a job-finding application that streamlines the job search process for new job seekers?"

Personas

Two primary personas were developed:

  1. Users seeking entry-level positions or internships.

  2. Experienced professional looking for new opportunities.

I created a journey map to gain insight into our users' objectives, behaviors, and emotions throughout their experience.

UX Journey

Information Architecture

I mapped out the user flow, ensuring a seamless journey from registration to job application. The IA was organized to facilitate easy navigation and quick access to vital sections of the app.

Wireframes

I started by sketching out the key wireframes and the listed down all the functions that were needed on all the screens.

Low Fidelity Wireframes

The low and medium-fidelity prototype helped me visualize the early stages of the app, defining the layout structure and content for each screen.

The primary goal of Easy Jobs was to bridge the gap between users and potential employers, leveraging technology to create a seamless, accessible job-finding experience.

Final Solution

Daily insights and job recommendations

The home screen gives users real-time insights into job market trends, salary benchmarks, and in-demand skills. This information helps job seekers stay informed and competitive in the job market.

Setting up a user profile and resume editing within the app

The application includes tools for creating and optimizing resumes. These tools guide users in highlighting their skills and experiences effectively, helping their applications stand out to potential employers.

The application analyzes a job seeker's skills, experience, and preferences to match them with suitable job listings.

Search and filter jobs

Users can effortlessly resume incomplete applications right from where they left off, ensuring a seamless process.

Additionally, the interface provides a comprehensive overview of completed applications, complete with real-time updates on the status of each application.

Track the application progress easily

Application status overview

The app continuously updates applicants on their application status, including any delays in response from companies. If a company exceeds the expected timeline for feedback, the app notifies users, suggesting they explore other job opportunities in the meantime.

Get custom alerts for new job opportunities based on your resume

Users can set personalized job alerts based on specific criteria such as job type, industry, location, and desired salary. This ensures job seekers receive notifications about opportunities that closely match their preferences and career goals.

Style Guide

The design system for the job-finding application, featuring blue and pastel yellow colors along with the Inter font, presents a harmonious blend of professionalism and approachability, aligning perfectly with the app's purpose and target audience.
